Quality review and HPass certified status
As an expert in capacity development for 40 years, it was crucial for RedR UK to be an HPass Certified organisation. This is such a great achievement, not only for RedR UK but for the entire humanitarian and development sector to ensure staff are suitably trained and qualified to be working with disaster-affected communities.

- demonstrate your organisation’s commitment to providing quality learning and/ or assessment services
- Recognition that your organisation provides services that conform to the requirements of either, or both, of the Learning Standards and Standards for the Assessment of Humanitarian Competencies
- Be at the forefront of the professionalisation of the humanitarian sector, contributing to raising standards of learning and assessment
- Be a part of a global network of learning and assessment providers who are meeting the Quality Standards.
- Display the HPass Certified Status logo on promotional and learning materials
- Be featured on the HPass Certified Organisations list on the HPass website
- If your organisation is also using HPass digital badging the HPass Certified logo will also display on any badges you issue
Additionally, all organisations who undertake a Quality Review, whether they pass or not, receive a detailed report outlining strengths and weaknesses within their learning or assessment services.
Even if you decide not to receive validation of the services delivered by your organisation, the Quality Standards can help your organisation to be more effective and achieve improved results through your learning and assessment provisions.
Undertaking a Quality Review
Organisations wishing to undertake a Quality Review should familiarise themselves with the process outlined in the Quality Manual (available below). Once you are confident that your organisation is meeting the Quality Standards you can complete and submit the self-assessment form available below.
Organisations can choose to have a gold or silver level Quality Review. The gold level includes a review of all Standards and key actions, whilst the silver level reviews all Standards and half the key actions. Larger organisations can apply for a specific department to be reviewed, rather than the whole organisation.
Once the self-assessment form has been submitted it will be reviewed by an independent Quality Reviewer who will meet with your organisation to discuss your learning/ assessment provision. Most meetings are currently being conducted virtually.
A final decision is made by the Quality Review committee made up of staff from the HPass Steering Committee.
Before you undertake a Quality Review, your organisation might choose to access the HPass Quality Standards Support Services which provides dedicated support to integrate the Standards into your practice, or to address a particular support need you have identified.
