A few years ago a colleague introduced me to the platform and I’ve used it as a teaching tool at university ever since. My favourite course is Humanitarian Operations Programme (HOP) Fundamentals.

I’ve learned about humanitarian norms and standards, as well as the best practices in project management and development programs.

I’ve strengthened my skills through the digital badges that I’ve earned and shared on the platform. I would like to learn a lot more about digital badges!

What is your work role?

I am working as a Contracts Manager for Mega Construction Projects in Egypt. I have extensive experience in project management, procurement, and contract management, having held positions at various international firms.ย

How did you first get involved in humanitarian work?

Since my undergraduate studies, I was an active leader in volunteering in different charity clubs. Since 2011, I have been an active volunteer with the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) and a member of the Emergency Action Teams, which the ERC and ICRC organized following the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.ย

Tell us the most interesting thing you’ve learned while taking your courses and earning HPass badges.

The scenario-based training tool helps promote self-awareness. Since it’s a humanitarian educational platform, you can see the immediate effects of your actions on how you make people feel and not only on the project, which is an incredible skill for any leader to have.

What’s your next personal or professional development goal?

I am attempting to position myself as one of the most effective humanitarian actors. I wish to work for a humanitarian organization, so I can focus on the desire to protect human dignity and alleviate suffering after man-made crises and natural disasters.ย

Any advice to share with your fellow learners?

I advise them to expand their humanitarian education to create their own job opportunities. To face the risks of climate change, the world needs more humanitarian actors. Also, to expand their humanities studies to build self-awareness and learn about their responsibilities to others and the planet, thus making the world a better place

I first heard about Kaya in 2019 while working with the Norwegian Refugee Council, where I set a foundation to my humanitarian career through intensive learning about humanitarian work on Kaya.

Both the FIELD Programme and Humanitarian Operations Programme (HOP) are incredible and comprehensive learning pathways which I recommend to my fellow humanitarians.

Iโ€™ve earned more than 116 certifications on Kaya and other learning platforms. Thanks toย HPassย I have details in a single link/embed code to all my badges which links to my resume.

My personal or professional development goal is to be a well-equipped and resourceful international director in a humanitarian setting.

I want to positively influence policymakers on the rights of IDPs, refugees, and vulnerable women, children and people with disability so that our planet is safe for these people.
